Get SSC-compliant images in four simple steps.

1

Choose tab

Select "Photo Resizer" for your passport photo or "Signature Resizer" for your signature scan.

Click or drag-and-drop your JPG file. Processing is instant and entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to any server.

3

Apply SSC preset

Click "SSC Official" preset (275×354 for photo, 236×79 for signature). Use the target KB field to auto-compress to 20-50 KB.

4

Download & upload

Check all compliance badges are green, download, then upload to ssc.gov.in or the SSC One-Time Registration portal.

Built specifically for ssc.gov.in portal requirements — nothing generic.

SSC-specific presets

Pre-loaded with SSC CGL/CHSL/MTS/GD 2026-27 photo (275×354px) and signature (236×79px) presets. No guesswork.

Live compliance checker

Real-time green/red badges verify pixel dimensions and KB limits against official SSC specs before you download.

Client-side only

Every operation runs in your browser tab. Your photo is never transmitted to any server — guaranteed 100% private.

Auto file-size targeting

Enter "35" and the tool binary-searches quality levels to hit exactly 35 KB — perfect for the tight 20-50 KB photo window.

Photo & signature both

Switch between Photo Resizer and Signature Resizer — the correct SSC spec (size, KB limit) is applied automatically.

White background fill

Canvas always fills white before drawing — critical for SSC, which auto-rejects blue passport-photo backgrounds.

Frequently asked questions

Official answers to common SSC photo upload questions.

Why SSC applications get rejected for photos

The ssc.gov.in portal runs automated image validation on every upload. The most common rejection causes are: file size outside the 20-50 KB window, wrong pixel dimensions (275×354 px required), coloured background (blue passport-photo backgrounds are the biggest culprit), spectacles, and images that are blurry or pixelated. A dedicated SSC photo resizer that enforces exact pixel and KB requirements eliminates technical rejections before you click submit — saving the non-refundable application fee.

SSC OTR (One Time Registration) photo upload explained

Since SSC CGL 2024-25, the One Time Registration system means photo and signature are uploaded once and reused for all SSC examinations. Getting it right the first time is critical: 275×354 px, 20-50 KB, JPEG, white background, no glasses or cap, both ears visible. The SSC OTR portal validates pixel dimensions and file size automatically and returns an upload error for non-compliant files.

How to prepare your signature for SSC upload

Sign clearly in black or blue ink on a piece of plain white A4 paper. Use a single signature — unlike UPSC which requires three. Photograph or scan the signature in good lighting with no shadows. The final digital file must be exactly 236×79 pixels and between 10 KB and 20 KB. The tight 10-20 KB window is where most candidates struggle: standard compression tools blur signatures at this range. Our tool uses canvas-based JPEG encoding that retains ink sharpness even at small file sizes.

SSC photo size vs UPSC and other exams

SSC uses a portrait-format passport photo (275×354 px), while UPSC CSE requires a square photo (550-1000 px). SSC's file size window (20-50 KB) is also much tighter than UPSC's (20-300 KB), which is why photo compression tools designed for UPSC often produce files that are too large for SSC uploads. Always use an SSC-specific resizer that understands the 50 KB maximum and the 275×354 px aspect ratio.
