How to Convert JPEG to SVG

  1. 1

    Upload your JPG file(s)

Click the upload area or drag your JPG files onto it: up to 10 files at once, 50 MB each.

  2. 2

    The dark parts are traced

Each image is made grayscale, and everything darker than mid-gray is traced into smooth black filled paths. Light areas are left out. This takes a few seconds per file.

  3. 3

    Download the SVG

Download each SVG file, or all of them as one ZIP.

Why Convert JPEG to SVG?

  • Clean One-Color Outlines

The dark parts of your JPG become smooth black filled paths, ready to recolor or print.

  • Sharp When Enlarged

The result is outlines, not pixels, so it stays sharp when you scale it up for print or cutting.

  • Opens in Browsers and Inkscape

Works in web browsers, Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, Figma and cutting-machine software such as Cricut Design Space.

  • Free, No Watermark

No account and no watermark. Up to 10 files at once, 50 MB each. Uploaded and converted files are deleted automatically within 2 hours.

When to Use This Conversion

  • 01

    Logos and icons

A one-color logo or icon in JPG becomes clean SVG black filled paths. Multi-color logos come out as a single silhouette: every color darker than mid-gray is traced the same way.

  • 02

    Signatures, line art and sketches

Scanned signatures, ink drawings and pencil sketches with strong lines trace well. The paper disappears because it is lighter than mid-gray, leaving only the lines.

  • 03

    What SVG is used for

Icons and logos for websites, cutting-machine designs, and laser engraving software that reads SVG.

JPEG vs SVG

JPG stores a grid of colored pixels. The SVG you get here holds black filled paths (one per shape) in a standard SVG file: the outline of the image's dark areas, traced from pixels into smooth curves.

Convert JPG to SVG when the image is a logo, icon, signature or drawing with clear dark shapes on a light background. For photos or multi-color artwork, keep the JPG: the trace would reduce it to a one-color silhouette.

JPEG to SVG: Complete Guide

This converter traces your JPG into black filled paths (one per shape) in a standard SVG file. It is built for simple, high-contrast images: logos, icons, signatures, stamps, line drawings and shapes you want to cut with a laser or vinyl cutter. Knowing what the trace keeps helps you get a clean result the first time.

What the trace keeps, and what it drops

The image is turned into grayscale, and every area darker than mid-gray is traced into black filled paths; everything lighter is treated as background and left out. Colors are not kept: a dark red circle and a dark blue square come out exactly the same, while yellow, pale pink or light gray parts disappear completely. Curves are smoothed, and tiny specks (a pixel or two) are removed as noise. If your download is empty, the image had no areas darker than mid-gray.

Preparing your JPG for a clean trace

JPG compression leaves faint blocks and halos around edges, which can show as small bumps along the outline. For the best outline, use dark shapes on a plain light background, at least a few hundred pixels across. Darken light-colored parts before uploading if you want them traced, and remove backgrounds that are gray or patterned.

Using the SVG file

The file opens in web browsers, Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, Figma and cutting-machine software such as Cricut Design Space. Change the fill color in any SVG editor. On a web page, place the SVG inline in the HTML to recolor it with a CSS fill rule. SVG opens directly in a web browser, so you can check the result right after downloading by opening the file in a new tab.

For a logo, signature or drawing with clear dark lines, the SVG is a sharp, scalable outline you can recolor, print or cut. For photos and multi-color artwork, a trace is not the right tool: keep the original JPG, or have the artwork redrawn by hand in a vector editor.
